These two articles are what I so far have of my "Expressions" collection. The first is entitled "Have We Forgotten To Look Outside?" - written on Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 - and the second and so far last one is called "The Feeling That Makes You Question: Vulnerability" - written Friday, July 11th, 2008. I have never posted these two; they're just "thought articles," as I call them, short little paragraphs on a simple topic. Enjoy.
Have We Forgotten To Look Outside? I looked out my window today and thought, summer’s here. Sitting in my room, my Beagle Odie sleeping on my bed, my stereo comfortably beaming The Rolling Stones, and the television blaring down the hall in the family room, I looked outside at the blue sky and glowing green hedge with its yellow glaze. Then I stood and I walked over to my window, and surrendered to the wind as it soared in through the screen, stroking my face, filling my nostrils with warm invisible coating. I opened my eyes then and only saw the relaxed grass, the mighty yet soft hedge, the live garden, and the admiring sky looking at me. Nothing compares to what we’ve been given. Why is all this forgotten? Why have we been put on a conveyor belt and sent through the machine of artificial beauty; brainwashed to believe the sparkling diamond on our finger is true, real. It is time we peel off the layers and layers of baggage that have been steam pressed over our vision: We must look outside – and see. We must see. © Monday, June 30th, 2008 Stephanie S.
The Feeling That Makes You Question: Vulnerability Feeling vulnerable is one of the worst feelings. Weak and desperate, you’re willing to be sucked into almost anything to get something you want – and even then do you begin to question what you desire. Wanting can eat you alive. Sometimes when we want something so bad, and we get it, we feel nothing. If a sense of vulnerability is flowing strong, it only makes things worse. You’re weak, practically in heat, craving your wildest dreams – and it’s this state of mind that mercilessly grants that wish, leaving you question your initial motives. When you’re feeling vulnerable, all you want to do is feel good, feel fulfilled. Suddenly, your wishes and your dreams become brighter, closer, and you just want to be there. It’s this blindness, though, that leaves us in an afterglow of confusion, frustration, and many questions. There’s no way to really explain it or fix it; we’ve all felt vulnerable at some point or other. But it sure makes you think that we mustn’t have come from The Big Bang: How did we get all of these emotions? © 2008 Stephanie S. Friday, July 11th
